We advise you about potential interactions with the medications you are taking. Ten days before your anti-ageing injectables, we’ll ask you to stop taking any that increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin and ibuprofen.
If you are having anti-wrinkle injectables before a big occasion or holiday, we recommend having the procedure two weeks in advance; this way, your bruising will have settled in plenty of time.
Your treatment includes the following steps:
Our friendly team contacts you after your anti-wrinkle injectables visit to answer any questions you may have. Then, two weeks after your treatment, we can book you a review appointment. At the review, your surgeon will give you a free top-up if required. Rest assured that they will not overtreat you, so if you need a top-up and it’s safe, you can have one. These review appointments are only usually required if it’s your first anti-wrinkle injectables treatment.
There’s no downtime with anti-ageing injectables. You can resume most activities immediately, but we recommend avoiding intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours.
You may experience some swelling and bruising after your wrinkle-relaxing injections. However, swelling usually fades within two days and bruises within seven to ten days.
The treated lines on your face will begin to soften over three to five days following the procedure, and their appearance will improve further over the next two weeks. Your new, fresher appearance and feel will stay with you for three to six months (every result is different depending on how quickly your body breaks down the toxin), at which point treatment is easily repeated.

On average, injectable anti-ageing dermal treatments last three-six months, depending on the product used and the area treated. After six months, your body naturally breaks down the botulinum toxin type A, so you’ll need to get touch-ups to maintain your desired look.
There are three botulinum toxin type-A medicines available for cosmetic use in the UK:
They work by temporarily relaxing specific muscles, effectively preventing them from creasing or wrinkling the skin.
We have experience with all three formulations at The Levant Clinic but mainly use Azzalure. We don’t suggest that one brand is superior to another; inevitably, it’s simply the practitioner who chooses their preferred product. The UK’s MHRA and the FDA in the USA regulate Azzalure.
During your consultation, we’ll tell you which botulinum toxin product we will use in your treatment.
Safety is our top priority. Our injectable anti-ageing treatments are considered low risk as only highly qualified plastic surgeons carry them out using premium anti-wrinkle injectables approved by the FDA/MHRA.
The most common side effects include redness, bruising, swelling and pain, all of which should go away within two weeks. By avoiding the use of aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, before your treatment, you can reduce the amount of bruising.
Complications can occur with any procedure. For injectable anti-ageing treatments, they include undesirable appearance, such as asymmetry, lumps, or over-correction of wrinkles; skin damage that causes a wound, infection, or scarring; and muscle weakness, blindness or other vision problems. Others include trouble speaking and swallowing, death of skin cells due to loss of blood flow to the area and breathing problems.
