Your four step journey

your consultation

At The Levant Clinic, we offer a variety of silicone or saline implants to suit your desired shape and size.

your surgeon will:

  • Go through your medical history
  • Discuss ideal breast size for your height, frame, and skin
  • Determine whether breast augmentation is suitable
  • Give you time to consider different implants
  • Weigh up which technique they will use
  • Recommend implant type, size, position, and texture

you can expect:

  • Your breasts to be examined and measured fully
  • Any questions to be answered, including on aftercare and recovery
  • Your surgeon to reveal before and after photos of their work
  • To hear about the potential risks and complications of breast augmentation
  • A clinic letter detailing your discussion with your surgeon and surgical plan

The surgeon will also discuss fat transfer, also known as fat grafting. Fat transfer to the breast is an alternative way to increase breast size without having breast implants. In a surgical procedure, fat is moved from one part of the body to the breast.

If your breasts have sagged due to age, weight loss or pregnancy, your cosmetic surgeon will discuss the benefits of having a combined augmentation and breast uplift procedure. We also include breast augmentations in our mummy makeover packages.

getting ready for your breast augmentation

Our dedicated team sends you information and is here to answer any questions in preparation for your breast enlargement procedure.

pre-op assessments and advice

Your pre-op meeting gives you the chance to ask as many questions as you like about breast augmentation surgery and what we can achieve.

Our preparation for your breast enlargement also involves:

  • Information you need in the lead-up to your procedure
  • Pre-operative assessments a week before your breast augmentation, including MRSA swabs
  • Medication advice – we’ll advise you about potential interactions with the medications you are taking. Two weeks before surgery, we’ll ask you to stop taking any that increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and herbal medicines
  • Smoking advice – you’ll need to stop smoking, using nicotine patches or gum at least four weeks before and after the procedure.

preparing for your hospital stay

Before your breast augmentation:

  • You won’t eat or drink for six hours before your procedure, except clear water
  • Arrange for someone to pick you up from the hospital
  • Come to your appointment without makeup, jewellery, or perfume.

what to bring on the day:

  • Any medication you are taking
  • Post surgery support bra
  • Dressing gown and slippers
  • Something to read
  • Toiletries.

breast augmentation surgery

Safe, trusted consultant plastic surgeons and five-star results.

at the hospital

We will admit you to a CQC-registered hospital for your breast augmentation.

  • Your surgeon will be there to answer any concerns you have, take photographs, and mark up your chest ready for surgery.
  • Your anaesthetist will also see you before the procedure so that you can ask them about the anaesthetic. We perform breast enlargements under a general anaesthetic with a local anaesthetic infiltration to make you comfortable after the procedure.

breast augmentation – what happens?

Breast augmentation surgery usually takes about an hour, and you can go home the same day. By making a small 4 to 4.5cm incision in your breast’s crease, you will have minimal scarring and a comfortable recovery.

Your surgeon creates a pocket for the implant and uses absorbable sutures to close the wound. Next, they will apply dressings and place you in a post-op support bra, which our clinic will provide.

Our surgeons are highly experienced in both subglandular, subfascial and dual plane techniques:

  • Subglandular and subfascial breast augmentation – the surgeon places implants on top of the muscle and under the gland.
  • Dual plane breast augmentation – also known as partial submuscular enlargement. The surgeon places the implants partially underneath the pectoralis major muscle and the gland.

after your breast augmentation

You’re assured of the very best care and treatment.

getting home

We will put you at ease by giving you post-operative advice before you leave the hospital. You’ll be discharged the day of your procedure and we recommend that a friend or family member takes you home, as you won’t be able to drive.

outstanding aftercare

We have a very personal approach to looking after you. The surgical aftercare at The Levant Clinic is exceptional. Our friendly and experienced team supports you throughout your patient journey. We respond to your questions quickly and are the link between you and your expert surgeon.

  • You will stay under your surgeon’s direct care, with support from our focused team
  • We don’t pass you to a nurse for follow-up care
  • We give you a 24/7 telephone number to call with further questions
  • Our team can refer you to your surgeon directly at any time.

recovery timeline

Our expert surgeons ensure minimal downtime and complications when carrying out your breast augmentation. We will give you tailored advice regarding your aftercare and recovery, but we have outlined a general guide to give you an idea of what to expect:
same day
  • It’s a day case so you will go home
  • You can shower – a special wound closure technique, pioneered by our surgeons, means you can shower straight away.
first two weeks
  • How you will feel – patients often feel sore and tender, but you’ll be prescribed pain relief to reduce any discomfort
  • Your surgeon will encourage you to move about as much as possible
  • Sleeping – sleep on your back with your head elevated as this will help your recovery
  • Movement – we encourage you to mobilise as much as possible, but suggest you avoid strenuous activity
  • Help with daily activities – you will need to organise someone to support you around your home and help with childcare if you have children
  • Work – you can probably return to work or similar activities in about seven days unless your job is physically demanding – then it may be a little longer. Ask your surgeon for any medical certificates you require
  • Follow-up appointment with your surgeon.
two weeks and beyond
  • Healing – breast augmentation will take about two weeks to heal
  • Stitches dissolve, so they won’t need to be removed
  • Driving – when you have stopped taking pain medication and can perform an emergency manoeuvre (stop), usually from three weeks
  • Short-haul flights can be taken after four weeks
  • Back to normal activities, including exercise at six weeks
  • Post-op support bra – wear for six weeks, except in the shower
  • Long-haul flight at six weeks
  • Results – you will notice a difference immediately, but full results will be seen from 12 weeks
  • Implant aftercare – your breast implants come with a warranty for both capsular contracture and implant rupture
  • Follow-up appointments – the first year after your procedure, your consultant surgeon will review you to monitor how you’re healing and recovering.

You can exercise six weeks after your breast enlargement.

Most patients take one week to recover before returning to work, but this may be a little longer if your job involves manual labour.

You should wear your support bra for six weeks, apart from in the shower or bath.

You can start driving once you have stopped taking pain medication and can perform an emergency manoeuvre (stop), usually about three weeks after the procedure.

You’ll need a week’s grace for any travel. We advise waiting two weeks before boarding a plane – and up to six weeks for a long-haul flight.

You will see an instant difference in your breasts, but it will take two months for them to settle into their new size and shape. Therefore, you can expect to see the full results of your breast augmentation from three to six months after surgery. Your breasts will appear younger and firmer and boost your confidence.

Your surgical scars will fade gradually over six months and will be hidden in the crease beneath your breast.

before and after

“The surgery has made a massive difference to my life. I feel more confident and every outfit I wear just looks a lot better. I have much more choice in clothes style and don’t even really need to wear a bra anymore. My body looks in proportion after the surgery, too. Before I was very pear-shaped, but now I have an hourglass figure. I’d recommend Mr Jallali to anyone considering a breast augmentation.”

frequently asked questions

All operations involve risk, but the risk is relatively low in our expert surgeons’ hands. Possible complications include infection, bleeding, scarring, reduced sensation around the nipples, seroma (fluid collection), asymmetry, capsular contracture, rupture, rippling, anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL) and venous thromboembolism.

Your surgeon will explain any risks and complications associated with your operation in more detail during the consultation.

At The Levant Clinic, our surgeons are accredited by the GMC. We selected them for their high skills, years of cosmetic surgery experience and professional plastic surgery qualification – FRCS (Plast). We take the utmost care to minimise any risks.

Some surgeons use a Keller Funnel device to insert the breast implant into the chest pocket during breast augmentation. It works with all types of breast implants.

Kevin Keller, a US surgeon, invented the device in 2009 to prevent the implant from touching the skin and keep it sterile – which is why it’s often called the ‘no touch’ or ‘minimal touch’ technique. The funnel is FDA (Federal Drug Administration) approved in the US and is a brand of Allergan, which is now an AbbVie company.

Your surgeon takes your implant straight from its packaging, loads it into a Keller Funnel®️2 gently propels it through the incision to the chest pocket. Using a funnel means smaller incisions, decreased fear of infection, and reduced damage to surrounding tissue. The main benefit is that patients feel more comfortable afterwards.

Ask about the Keller Funnel technique when you book a breast augmentation with us.

The implant can be placed in either an over (subglandular) or under (submuscular or dual plane) position. You can achieve a significantly different look with each plane depending on the desired goal.

In the subglandular option, the breast implant goes over the chest or pectoral muscles and is the one most surgeons prefer because of faster recovery and it’s more straightforward. A dual plane or submuscular implant is when it is placed below the muscle.

There are four main breast implant profiles – low, medium, high, and extra high.

The breast implant profile determines how much the breast projects forward from the chest wall. To assess the right profile for you, your surgeon will measure your chest and ensure the implant isn’t wider than the breast.

Although breast implants come in many shapes, most patients in the UK find that round breast implants are the best choice for overall volume.

However, your surgeon may suggest an anatomical or teardrop-shaped implant if you have a suitable body shape.

You may already know your breasts’ future cup size, and our experienced surgeons can recommend the implant size that helps you achieve that dream. Every patient is different – breast tissue, body type and skin availability can make the same-sized implant look different.

Your surgeon will take your ideas into account and measure you before suggesting a breast implant size measured in cubic centimetres (CC).

Plastic surgeons in the UK commonly use silicone implants – they are the most popular because they are safe, made to last and look and feel natural.

The alternative is saline implants, which contain sterile saltwater, but they are firmer than silicone versions, more perceptible, and deflate fast should the shell break.

You will have ample time to discuss your concerns, discover your options and consider which approach will be most suitable for you.

It is always a good idea to think of questions in advance. But we understand there’s often much to discuss, so if you forget to ask a question in the consultation, contact our dedicated team. They can go back to your surgeon and get the answer for you. Questions you may want to consider are:

  • Is breast enlargement right for me?
  • What surgical technique do you recommend?
  • How long of a recovery period can I expect, and what kind of help will I need during my recovery?
  • What will my breast implants look like over time?
  • What will I need to do to get the best results?
  • Can I look at before and after photos for this procedure?

We are proud to offer Motiva, Mentor and Nagor breast implants. Your expert plastic surgeon will discuss the different breast implant options and help you achieve the look and feel that you want, while placing the highest importance on safety and patient care.

We have partnered with Plim to offer tailored finance options that help you pay for your procedure – and we are clear about the costs of surgery at every stage.
